Time Capsule
All Hallows Catholic High School this year celebrates 40 years since it opened. The school is also building a brand new Sports Hall which is due to open in October 2015.
The school decided to bury a Time Capsule in the floor of the Sports Hall so that future generations will get a taste of life at All Hallows in 2015. Very appropriately at the ceremony Helena Cassidy, the granddaughter of Gerald Cassidy from Cassidy & Ashton Associates, who designed the original All Hallows building in the 70’s, was the pupil to place the Time Capsule in the ground.
The youngest boy and girl also attended as did Helena’s father, Mr Alban Cassidy, a current Director at Cassidy & Ashton who are designing the new building. The builders are Krol Corlett of Liverpool and Mr Simon Krol also attended the Opening Ceremony as did Mr Riding, Headteacher, Miss Fogarty and Mrs Ferguson, teachers whose idea it was to have a Time Capsule and Mr Mike Perry, Chair of Governors. The project has been overseen by Cassidy & Ashton, liaising with the school’s Buildings Officer, Mr Adamson.
Alban Cassidy – Director, Cassidy & Ashton said:
“School Architects Cassidy + Ashton were delighted to attend the burying of a time capsule to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of All Hallows Catholic High School.
Attending on C+A’s behalf were Alban Cassidy and his daughter, Helena Cassidy.
Alban is the Town Planning Director at C+A, and was responsible for obtaining planning permission for the new Sports Hall, under which the time capsule has been buried. As well as being an ex-pupil of All Hallows, he is also the son of the original school architect, Gerald Cassidy.
His daughter Helena has just left All Hallows, having completed 10 GCSE’s only a few weeks ago.”
Simon Krol from the construction company building the new sports hall also commented:
“We were more than happy to make room in the foundations of the new sports hall at All Hallows for the time capsule. On behalf of everyone at Krol Corlett Construction we would like to wish you the best of luck with your new facility when completed and many happy years of use. We have been privileged to take part in this build and congratulate All Hallows on 40 years of outstanding education”
