DALE ZAPOROWSKI
Most Outstanding Individual aged 4 – 18 years (boy).
When Dale was 6 years of age, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and he underwent months of Chemotherapy and 6 weeks of Radiotherapy.
In 2011 he suffered a relapse and had to undergo surgery and more Chemotherapy. Dale took it all in his stride and there was no complaining from him.
Dale has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, not just physically but has matured in many ways.
He has settled well into secondary school life and is enthusiastic and determined to learn.
Dale is aware that he looks different from the other pupils but this doesn’t stop him from doing what he enjoys. He loves Science, ICT, Technology, RE, Music and Dancing and joins in with most PE lessons. He goes swimming and horse riding outside school hours. His confidence continues to grow and he is now quite independent around school.
The charity, “When you wish upon a Star” has helped Dale and his family through some difficult times and they are now very actively involved in organising fund raising events for the charity. Last year Dale and his form raised over £200, by selling cakes and popcorn.
This year Dale was invited to share the stage with Alisha Dickson to switch on the Christmas lights in Preston!
Dale is an inspiration to all who meet him and he is a very funny, brave young man with a great sense of humour!
